This role provides the strategic leadership for the full range of Council Resource functions. This includes:
You’ll ensure that these key services operate efficiently and effectively; that the organisation has the right tools and talent in place to deliver our ambitious agenda; and that excellent customer service is at the core of all we do. You’ll work closely with Service Heads in each area to set clear expectations and measures, and to ensure we make full use of our team’s talent and experience. There will be a strong emphasis on ensuring the right financial governance systems are in place and you will take on the statutory role of the Council’s S151 Officer. You will also take on the same statutory role on the Thames Valley LEP and the Pension Authority.
With a proven track record in leading organisational and cultural change that underpins service improvement, you should be able to instil a shared sense of purpose and direction across teams, and get the best from others. Ready to explore and evaluate new ways of working, you’ll ensure that we make full use of technology to enhance how we work and reduce costs. We expect that you’ll be an experienced finance leader, with the breadth of perspective to offer effective leadership across diverse settings. And you’ll have the personal and professional gravitas to advise on complex issues at the highest level.
